Porto is not a city with one high season; it is a city with several personalities. Choose the month according to the story you want to enter.
January begins with New Year programmes. February usually brings Essência do Vinho and Fantasporto. March often includes camellias, heritage and fashion events. In May, university traditions fill the city during Queima das Fitas, while FITEI brings theatre and Serralves begins its major festival season.
June is Porto at maximum intensity: Serralves em Festa, Primavera Sound Porto and, on the night of 23 June, São João. July and August favour outdoor culture. September combines the Book Fair, half marathon and Serralves’ Autumn Festival. October often highlights puppetry and fashion, November brings the Porto Marathon, and December turns toward lights and concerts.
Dates and even event names change. Treat this as a seasonal compass, then verify the official programme before booking transport or accommodation.
